PSW Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about PSW subscription, Customs registration, import and export declarations, bank profiles and renewal.

PSW Basics and Subscription

1. What is Pakistan Single Window (PSW)?

PSW is Pakistan’s digital platform for submitting trade information and documents through a single entry point for import, export and transit processes, including relevant Customs and other government-agency requirements.

2. Who should use PSW?

Businesses and authorized users involved in cross-border trade—such as importers, exporters, traders and customs agents—may need PSW access for the services relevant to their activity. The exact registration steps depend on the user’s role and the goods or service involved.

3. What is the difference between PSW subscription and Customs registration?

Subscription provides access to PSW. After subscribing, a trader or customs agent may still need to register or associate the appropriate business profile and role with Customs before using trade functions.

4. What information is generally needed for PSW subscription?

PSW may ask for a tax identifier such as NTN, FTN or STRN, CNIC and contact details. Companies may also need their SECP registration number or CUIN. Email, mobile and identity checks must meet the current PSW requirements; additional documents can apply in special cases.

5. How do I subscribe to PSW?

Start from the official PSW portal and select Subscribe. Enter the requested details, pay the system-generated PSID, verify your email and mobile with OTPs, complete the required biometric or identity verification, then use the email link to create your login credentials. Follow the instructions shown for your application.

6. What is the PSW subscription fee?

The official PSW subscription page currently lists a fee of Rs. 500, paid through a system-generated PSID. Fees can change, so confirm the amount on the official portal and on your PSID before paying.

7. How can I pay the PSW subscription PSID?

Use the payment channels currently available for the PSID, such as an eligible bank or electronic banking channel. Check the PSID amount, reference and validity before completing payment, and keep the payment record.

8. Where do I complete PSW biometric verification?

Follow the method and location stated in your PSW application or verification email. PSW’s published guidance refers to NADRA e-Sahulat biometric verification and asks the subscriber to bring a valid CNIC and application ID. If verification fails, use the instructions issued by PSW for that case.

9. Who completes biometric verification for a company?

The individual selected as the PSW subscriber completes the identity and biometric checks for that subscription. Use the person whose identity and details are being used in the application, and follow any company authority-document requirements shown by PSW.

10. Does my mobile number or email need to match my records?

Yes. PSW checks subscriber information against relevant records. Use a mobile number registered to the subscriber and an active email address associated with the applicable FBR/IRIS record. Mismatched or outdated details can interrupt verification.

11. What should I do if I do not receive an OTP?

Check that the mobile number and email entered are correct and active, check your email spam folder, and try the resend option after a short wait. If your registered FBR/IRIS email or mobile details are outdated, update the relevant record and retry. Contact PSW support if the issue continues.

12. What if I cannot access the email registered with my NTN?

PSW’s published guidance says to update the email against the NTN in FBR/IRIS, then continue the PSW verification process using the corrected address.

13. What should I do if PSW does not recognize my NTN or business details?

Recheck the identifier and the business details recorded with FBR/IRIS. Correct outdated or mismatched taxpayer information through the relevant FBR process before retrying. If the PSW error remains, share the error and application ID with PSW support.

Customs, Import and Export Questions

14. Do I need a separate WeBOC user ID after PSW subscription?

PSW’s published subscription FAQs say a separate WeBOC user ID is not required for PSW subscribers to access relevant WeBOC functionality after their role is associated with the Customs Management System. Complete the role-association steps applicable to your account.

15. Can a trader authorize a customs agent through PSW?

Yes. PSW provides traders with an option to authorize customs agents through the platform. The trader and agent must have the relevant PSW profiles and complete the authorization steps shown in the account.

16. What is a Single Declaration (SD)?

A Single Declaration is an electronic submission for trade-related clearance through a single interface. PSW can route relevant information to Customs and the concerned government agencies based on the declaration and applicable requirements.

17. What is needed to file an import Single Declaration?

PSW’s import guidance requires an active PSW subscription and an associated banking profile integrated with PSW. You may also need to complete the applicable trader/agent registration and provide declaration details and supporting documents required for the consignment.

18. What is needed to file an export Single Declaration?

PSW’s export guidance lists PSW trader or customs-agent registration, an active account with an Authorized Dealer bank, and an associated bank profile. Additional declaration information and documents depend on the transaction.

19. Do I still need EIF or EFE forms for trade transactions?

PSW has introduced electronic bank-profile and financial-instrument exchange to eliminate separate EIF/EFE forms for the applicable workflows. Requirements can depend on the transaction and payment mode, so confirm the steps with your bank and the PSW portal before filing.

20. What is a PSW bank profile, and why is it needed?

A bank profile links the trader’s bank information with their PSW business profile. It is required for relevant import/export declarations and financial-instrument processing. The bank verifies the information through the PSW integration.

21. Why can’t I associate my bank profile with PSW?

Check that the IBAN is correct and that the email and mobile entered match the details registered with the bank. The bank must also be integrated with PSW for the relevant service. Contact your bank or PSW support if verification still fails.

22. Do all goods require an LPCO through PSW?

No. A licence, permit, certificate or other regulatory document is needed when the goods, activity or applicable rules require one. Requirements vary by product and agency; check the PSW service catalogue and the applicable HS/product details.

23. How can I check the status of an application or declaration?

Sign in to PSW and review the relevant dashboard or application. PSW logs process activity and displays the status or action taken at each step; also check for notifications or requests for additional documents.

Renewal, Security and Support

24. How long is a PSW subscription valid, and how do I renew it?

PSW’s published renewal guidance states that a subscription is valid for two years. Check the expiry date in Profile Management and start renewal through the PSW portal before expiry. Follow the current payment and verification steps provided by PSW.

25. What happens if my subscription expires while an application is being processed?

PSW’s renewal FAQ says existing requests may continue to be processed, but an expired subscription prevents starting further transactions. Renew your subscription to continue initiating PSW activities.

26. Who can view my PSW information, and how should I protect my account?

PSW states that information is available to authorized users. Keep your user ID, password, OTPs and subscriber details confidential, and only authorize users through the official PSW process.

27. How do I contact PSW for a technical or application issue?

Use the official PSW Ticket Desk or contact details shown on the PSW website. The published helpline is +92 21 111 111 779 and the support email is support@psw.gov.pk; confirm current contact details on the official site.

28. Can TPMCL guarantee PSW approval or clearance?

No. TPMCL can provide guidance and documentation support, but PSW access, Customs clearance, permits, certificates, decisions and processing times are determined by the relevant government agencies and banks.
